KOTA SUZUKI ART WORKS

初めにパソコンで絵を描き、デジタルデータの画像を一度作成する。
その際、ある画像データを一度テキストデータに変換し、内容を書き換えることで作成した「バグ」をモチーフの一部として用いている。
「バグ」は自身の意図とは無関係な情報の破損として表出し、画面に偶然性をもたらす。作成したデジタルデータをもとに現実の絵画に移行していく。
素材には、箔や岩絵具を用いることで無機質な画像データに物質感を持たせている。
この移行プロセスは、データの世界と現実世界を行き来するようなものだ。スマートフォンやコンピューターで長時間作業した後、ふと画面から視界をずらすと現実に引き戻されるような感覚に似ている。
First I create a picture on the computer, generating a digital image file. At this point I convert the image file into text data and make changes to the text to create "glitches" in the image, which are incorporated as part of the motif.
The "glitches" manifest as a corruption of information unrelated to my original intent, bringing an element of randomness to the screen. The resulting digital data serves as the basis for transitioning into a physical painting.
As the next step, I convert the digital data into physical paintings. By incorporating materials such as metal leaf and mineral pigments, I bring a concrete and physical presence to what was originally an inorganic digital image.
This transition process is similar to the feeling of being pulled back into reality after working for a long time on a smartphone or computer and shifting your gaze away from the screen. It’s as if I am moving back and forth between the world of data and the real world.
